General Conditions of Appointment

The interpretation of negotations ensures informal comprehension for small groups of people by excluding simultaneous or consecutive interpretation techniques.

The day is 7 working hours, the rate can be on an hourly basis (minimum rate 3 hours).
The assignment must be given in writing.
For off-premises assignments, in addition to the agreed fee (including any jours chômés and manque-à-gagner), daily allowance or full board is due to the nterpreter as well as reimbursement of travel expenses.
Payment of the fee shall be made at the end of the assignment or upon receipt of an invoice or equivalent and in any case no later than 30 days after the assignment has been carried out, after which time default interest shall be applied pursuant to Art. 5.1 of Decree-Law no. 231 of 9.10.2002.
The invoice must include the 4% recompense to be paid by the client, foreseen for the social security contribution ex. L.662/96 art.1 c.212.
The cancellation of an interpretation assignment of less than eight days from the start date, entails payment of the professional fee to the interpreter and reimbursement of any expenses incurred.

Conference interpreters
It is advisable to contact the interpreter beforehand in order to verify that the topic is suitable for the type of interpretation required.

For simultaneous interpretation, the room must have a booth for each language. The booth must be ISO 2603-compliant in the case of fixed installations and ISO 4043-compliant in the case of mobile installations. There must be at least two interpreters in each booth. The working day of the simultaneous interpreter is 7 hours. If it is planned to exceed 7 hours, a third interpreter must be called in to allow adequate rest periods. A single interpreter cannot work for more than 2 hours. The working day is indivisible For the recording of the translation, the interpreters’ authorisation must be sought in advance. If authorisation is granted, the interpreter will be paid 40% more than the agreed amount for the service.

Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI)

If the simultaneous interpretation takes place remotely or virtually, in order to ensure good audio input quality and a satisfactory performance of the assignment by the interpreter, the Client undertakes to ensure that all speakers use appropriate equipment (headphones and microphone or headset/headphones with built-in microphone) and to make them aware of this. The Client will ask the speakers to maintain an appropriate speech rhythm, such that the interpreter can perform his task satisfactorily. Otherwise, the interpreter will not be responsible for gaps, generalisations, errors or omissions in his/her translation.

A full day (FD) of work is defined as assignments lasting a maximum of 7 hours. If it is planned to exceed 7 hours, a third interpreter must be called in to allow adequate rest periods. The working day cannot exceed the 10 consecutive hours.

Half-day (HD) work is defined as assignments lasting a maximum of 4 hours.

The assignments of a single interpreter cannot exceed 1 hour.

For the recording of the translation, the signing of a release form by the interpreter must be requested in advance. If authorisation is granted, the interpreter will be charged a surcharge of 30% of the agreed amount for the service.

For consecutive interpretation, the working day is 7 hours, with one interpreter for each language. If it is planned to exceed 7 hours, another interpreter must be called in to allow adequate rest periods. Services with only one interpreter are allowed for a maximum period of two hours. The working day is indivisible

Whispread interpretation is a translation performed by whispering the essential concepts of the speech in the presence of a maximum of two people. Performances with only one interpreter are allowed for a maximum of two hours in alternating interventions.
